Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, speaking at the Turkmen-German business forum in Berlin on Friday, invited German industrial and logistics companies to cooperate, the official Turkmen media reports.
Specifically, Berdimuhamedov proposed exploring cooperation opportunities in the chemical industry for a project involving the repair, restoration, and partial modernization of the Tejenkarbamid plant in Turkmenistan. ThyssenKrupp AG was mentioned as one of the potentially promising partners in this project.
During the forum, the Halk Maslakhaty Chairman emphasized the importance of continuing negotiations with German partners regarding a comprehensive project aimed at developing and bringing the Garlyk potash mining complex in Turkmenistan to its full design capacity. Active efforts are being made to pursue cooperation in this area with German companies ERCOSPLAN, Ka-Utek, and SCHACHTBAU.
There was also expressed interest in collaborating with Deutsche Bahn Holding in the field of rail transportation, as well as in the development of road and sea transportation. The goal is to leverage available opportunities in the transport and transit sector and implement effective logistics solutions.
Considerable attention was devoted to partnership in the civil aviation sector, including the expansion of air transportation between the two countries and exploring the potential for joint management of airports in Turkmenistan. This entails preparing the necessary legal framework to support these projects.
Building on the existing cooperation in consulting on economic development and investment attraction in Turkmenistan, there is an intention to continue working on establishing a legal framework for partnerships with interested companies, specifically with Gotz & Partner.
During the forum, the National Leader of the Turkmen people highlighted that German companies were among the first to enter the Turkmen market and have been successfully operating in various sectors for many years.
Notably, there are currently 196 investment projects and contracts involving German capital registered in Turkmenistan, amounting to approximately $1.6 billion.The contributions made by representatives of German business circles, such as Siemens, Daimler, Claas, Rohde & Schwarz, Dresser-Rand, and others, are instrumental in the successful realization of long-term joint projects, according to the report.
Addressing the meeting of the heads of delegations of the Central Asian countries and the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations in Berlin on Friday, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reiterated Turkmenistan's firm stance on gas supplies to Europe through the construction of the Trans-Caspian gas pipeline and offered German businesses a partnership in the electric power industry and renewable energy sources.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also took part in a meeting of Central Asian Leaders with Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the meeting of Central Asian Leaders with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
