The ceremony of lighting up Turkmenistan's main New Year tree was held in the Älem Cultural and Entertainment Centre in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, on Friday, the official Turkmen media reports.
According to the report, the main New Year tree of the country stands tall at 44 meters and spans 16 meters in width. An octagonal star bearing the sign 2024 decorates the New Year tree on the top.
The theatre ensembles of Ashgabat, along with young artists and famous pop stars of Turkmenistan, performed on Turkmenistan's main New Year Tree square.
On behalf of all the participating children, Father Frost and Snow Maiden extended their warm congratulations and best wishes to the President of Turkmenistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, and the entire Turkmen nation in the new year 2024.
After that, Father Frost used his magic wand at the children's request to illuminate the lights on the towering New Year tree.
Following the lighting of the New Year tree in the capital, all the New Year trees in the main squares of cities and villages of provinces sparkled with lights, and New Year celebrations began.
During the ceremony, the children received New Year's gifts on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
