Turkmenistan Launches First Stage of Its Ring Power Transmission System

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part via video link on Saturday in the ceremony of commissioning a new Ahal-Balkan high-voltage double-circuit overhead power line, the first stage of a project to create a ring power transmission system in the country.

The ceremony was also attended by Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the Deputy Chairman of the Government in charge of economic and financial issues, and Charymyrat Purchekov, the Deputy Chairman of the Government in charge of the construction, industrial and energy issues, the country’s official media reports.

In the opening speech, the Head of State said power transmission lines between Ashgabat, Mary, Lebap and Dashoguz, connecting the energy systems of these regions, presently operate in the country.

The implementation of the project of the ring power system along routes from east to north from Ashgabat Ahal-Balkan and Balkan-Dashoguz will allow to unify energy system of Turkmenistan, the Turkmen Leader stated.

Focusing on the future projects, President Berdimuhamedov informed about the plans for the modernization of the existing Ashgabat-Mary power transmission line.

The commission of the Ahal-Balkan power transmission line will increase the reliability of power supply to consumers in the coastal city of Turkmenbashi, the Avaza National Tourist Zone and industries in the western region of the country.

Türkmenenergogurluşyk (Turkmen Energy Construction) Concern of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan implements the project to create the ring power transmission system in Turkmenistan Ahal-Balkan, Balkan-Dashoguz and Ahal-Mary transmission lines.
