The collectors’ coins devoted to the groundbreaking ceremony of the Afghan section of the TAPI gas pipeline have been issued in Turkmenistan. Gold and silver coins with the value of 100 manats were made by Royal Mint in UK.
The heads of both coins featurs maps of the TAPI member states against the background of sand dunes in the centre with their titles in Turkmen TÜRKMENISTAN, OWGANYSTAN, PÄKISTAN and HINDISTAN.
The pipeline route and its destination in each country are marked and the caravan of camels is depicted along the route.Electric power lines, which are scheduled to be installed along the TAPI route, are featured on the top, according to the state information agency TDH.
The bottom of the coin features a gas pipeline with the flame busting on the left. Above the pipe an optic fibre cable which ends on the image of the map of India is depicted. The inscriptions TÜRKMENISTAN-OWGANYSTAN-PÄKISTAN-HINDISTAN GAZ GEÇIRIJISI and AŞGABAT 2018 are placed circumferentially.
Turkmenistan’s State Coat of Arms is featured on the reverse side of the coin.
It should be mentioned that the Central Bank of Turkmenistan on a regular basis issues coins in honour of various significant events.
Commemorative coins were last issued in August 2017 in honour of the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
In the run-up to the opening of the Asian Games, which were held in September 2017, new banknotes with the value of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 manats as well as 100 manat gold and silver coins Aşgabat Olimpiýa stadiony were introduced.
