Turkmenistan is preparing to extend the contract for the supply of electricity to Afghanistan

Turkmenistan is preparing to extend the contract for the import of electricity to Afghanistan, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Afghanistan Khoja Ovezov said during a meeting with Acting Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Afghanistan Mullah Abdul Latif Mansur, writes Business Turkmenistan with reference to The Kabul Times.

During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation in the energy sector. Separately, the development of a program to import Turkmen electricity to neighboring Afghanistan was noted.

It is noted that Khoja Ovezov and Mullah Abdul Latif Mansur discussed projects for the supply of electricity to the Homab and Karkin districts of Jowzjan province.

Let us remind that in January 2022, an agreement was signed between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan to increase the capacity of the power transmission line for the Nur al-Jihad substation from 110 kV to 220 kV.
