Today, April 4, an updated ranking of national teams was published on the official website of the International Football Federation.
According to this rating, the Turkmenistan national team dropped two positions and ranks 143rd.
Among the Central Asian countries in the FIFA ranking, the team of Uzbekistan (64) is highest, followed by Tajikistan (99), Kyrgyzstan (100) and Kazakhstan (103).
Let us remind that on March 21, the Turkmenistan national team lost to the Iranian team with a score of 0:5 at the “Azadi” stadium in Tehran in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup.
On March 26, the Turkmen team played a return match with Iran in Ashgabat, in which they also lost - 0:1.
The national teams of Iran and Hong Kong, which together with Uzbekistan are Turkmenistan’s rivals in the 2026 World Cup, took 20th and 157th places in the ranking, respectively.
The Argentine team remained the leader of the ranking. The French team continues to occupy second place. The Belgian team moved up to third position, displacing the British into fourth place. The top ten rankings also included the teams of Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Croatia.
It should be noted that in total the FIFA ranking includes 205 national teams.
