Turkmenistan Exports $11.4 Billion in Products

The volume of exports of Turkmen products in 2023 surged to $11.4 billion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced during an extended Cabinet of Ministers meeting, as reported by Turkmenistan’s official media.

The Head of State highlighted robust economic growth with a 6.3% GDP increase in 2023, particularly in the industrial sector (4.3%), trade (12.8%), and agriculture (4.4%).

Within the reporting period, 12,274 new jobs were created, and 78 industrial and socio-cultural facilities, along with 1,897,000 square meters of housing, were completed using diverse funding sources.

President Berdimuhamedov detailed 2024 plans according to Turkmenistan's Socio-Economic Development and Investment Program with the agenda including the construction of residential buildings (430,000 square meters), general educational institutions (5,360 places), and preschool facilities (1,200 places).

Key projects for the current year cover various regions, including Ashgabat's water treatment plant, Dokmaçylar cultural center, a monument to Magtymguly Pyragy and a cultural park complex, 13 modern houses in Parahat-7, and the International Medical Rehabilitation Center and International Scientific and Clinical Center of Physiology.

Ahal province will witness the completion of the 2nd stage of a cement plant in Baherden district and modern villages Öňaldy ain Ak Bugday district and Gowşut gengeshlik in Kaakhka district.

In the Balkan province, projects include a road bridge across Garabogazgol Bay and the International Air Terminal Complex in Jebel.Lebap province will see the 2nd stage of a cement plant in Koytendag etrap, and the city of Mary will have a new administrative building for the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service.

The Tejen-Mary section of the Ashgabat-Turkmenabat high-speed highway is scheduled for commissioning.

The extended government meeting comprehensively reviewed the economic sector's 2023 performance, featuring reports from deputy prime ministers, ministry heads, and regional leaders.
