Turkmenistan Expects to Build Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline to Europe

Turkmenistan expects to build a gas pipeline across the Caspian Sea to Europe, the Interfax-Azerbaijan news agency reported citing Shahym Abdrakhmanov, Deputy Chairman of Turkmen Government overseeing the country's oil-gas industry, as saying during the ADIPEC-2022 conference in Abu-Dhabi on Tuesday.

"The Trans-Caspian project is not off the agenda," Shahym Abdrakhmanov said, informing that this project involves the construction of a gas pipeline from Turkmenistan through Azerbaijan to Georgia and further to Eastern European countries.

According to the Vice-Premier, Turkmenistan's potential resources are 71.2 billion tons of oil equivalent, of which 53 billion tons are onshore and 18.2 billion tons offshore. The country has discovered more than 190 oil and gas fields.

The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), kicked off on October 31 and will run until November 3.
