Turkmenistan Elected as 79th UN General Assembly Session Vice President

Turkmenistan was unanimously elected as the Vice President of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported during a regular online meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday.

According to Turkmenistan's official media, the Vice Premier congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on this significant event.

President Berdimuhamedov noted that the unanimous election of the country as Vice President of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly is a recognition of the broad support for the country's foreign policy by the international community.

Emphasizing that Turkmenistan will continue its effective cooperation with the United Nations, the Head of State warmly congratulated everyone on this milestone event.

Rashid Meredov also reported on the preparations for the state visit of the President of South Korea to Turkmenistan.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed the Vice Premier, Foreign Minister, and other members of the Cabinet of Ministers to ensure a high level of organization for this visit.

The government meeting also reviewed the performance results of the national economy sectors for the first five months of the current year.
