The Embassy of Turkmenistan with the assistance of the National Cycling Federation of Georgia organized a cycling tournament in the Tbilisi Olympic Sports Centre on June 1, 2018. The sports event was dedicated to the celebrated for the first time World Bicycle Day.
The tournament brought together the specialists of the diplomatic missions accredited in Georgia, the National Cycling Federation, athletes and coaches. Georgian mass media broadcast the tournament.
The significance of the World Bicycle Day that was adopted on the initiative of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was underlined during the tournament opening ceremony.
Those speaking during the ceremony emphasized Turkmenistan’s achievements in developing the world-class sports, physical culture movement and popularizing cycling that testifies to the importance of the social and ecological components of the national development strategy.
It was underlined the efforts taken by the Turkmen leader an active supporter of sports and healthy life-style, initiator of bike rides in the country.
Valuable gifts were awarded to the winners.
