Specialists of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part online in a seminar on improving the efficiency of the customs control system, which was held for them by representatives of the Customs and Tariff Administration of the Ministry of Economy of Japan Kazumo Matsumoto and Taiki Natsumi.

The speakers talked about the three main missions of Japanese customs, the measures taken to facilitate trade procedures.
They also talked in detail about the Japanese automated customs clearance system, which was put into effect in 1978 and plays a key role in achieving minimum customs clearance times. In 2003, the “single window” system was introduced in Japan.
Then, Japanese customs officers shared their experience in organizing effective risk management at all levels of the customs service.
During the seminar, the participants were able to ask questions of interest and received detailed answers to them; they familiarized themselves with the legal basis for the application of the risk management system in Japan, and also studied effective risk assessment methods using examples.
