IX International Gas congress opened in Turkmenistan on 23 May.
Reuters reports that in the course of the session Muhammetmyrat Amanov, chief executive of TAPI pipeline Company Ltd said that Turkmenistan plans to secure all the necessary funding to complete the construction of the natural gas pipeline”.
According to Amanov, the financing will be successfully completed in the third quarter, within the next three-four months. The company is in talks with several export credit agencies such as Italy’s SACE and France’s Hermes, as well as Greek export credit insurer ECIO.
The Consortium CEO did not specify how much money TAPI has already raised or mention security issues related to the gas pipeline.
Let us recall that two days ago at least five deminers were allegedly killed by Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan, who were clearing the TAPI gas pipeline area of IEDs.
Taliban militants had previously attacked Farah province where the TAPI gas pipeline will pass through.
The gas pipeline construction is scheduled to be completed by 2019.
