Turkmenistan, China Sign Several Documents at Intergovernmental Committee Meeting

The sixth meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation was held in Ashgabat on Wednesday. Several documents were signed at the end of the meeting, the Turkmen official media reports.

During the sixth meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation, the heads and representatives of relevant sectoral structures from Turkmenistan and China signed several important agreements.These include the signing of a Protocol, a Memorandum of Understanding between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China aimed at deepening scientific and technical cooperation, and an Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of the People's Republic of China on international road transport.

During the sixth meeting of the Committee, participants discussed various topics, including implementing existing agreements, reinforcing mutually beneficial partnerships, promoting investment collaboration and identifying opportunities for new joint ventures. Particular emphasis was given to prioritising bilateral cooperation in the traditional trade, economy, transportation and energy sectors.

In addition, the meeting also explored prospects for enhanced cooperation in the fuel and energy sector and opportunities for collaboration in industries such as agriculture and the business community.

At the end of the meeting, the sides expressed confidence that the meeting would further enhance the mutually beneficial bilateral partnership and fully utilise its multifaceted potential.

Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received on Wednesday a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, First Vice Premier of China Ding Xuexiang, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the sixth meeting of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee.
