Turkmenistan brings back students from Turkmenistan where cases of coronavirus have been confirmed

Over the past two days 21 Turkmen students returned home through the only open border checkpoint “Olat-Farap avtodorozhny” at Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan border.

Most of them are students of higher educational establishments in Bukhara region of Uzbekistan.At the same time, some students of the same university residing in dormitories have been placed under temporary quarantine in Uzbekistan, correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report.

Until 17 March the border checkpoint “Shavat-avtodorozhny” was open.During the last day of its operations several dozens of students, primarily residents of Dashoguz velayat, used it to cross the border.

All of them are doing a course of studies in universities of Khorezm region of Uzbekistan.A total of about 1100 Turkmenistan nationals are pursuing education opportunities.

As of 17 March, 2020 there were 11 confirmed cases of coronavirus COVID-19 in Uzbekistan.
