Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Türkiye will set up a working group on the issue of transporting Turkmen gas to other markets, Anadolu Agency cites the Foreign Minister of Türkiye Mevlut Cavusoglu as saying during a joint press conference with his Turkmen and Azerbaijani counterparts following the first summit of the heads the the three countries in Avaza National Tourist Zone on Wednesday.
Foreign Minister Cavusoglu stated that the strengthening of energy cooperation among the three countries was one of the most important topics discussed during the summit.
Pointing out that the need for diversification of sources and routes for energy security has become more important, Cavusoglu stated this situation has brought the energy resources of the Caspian basin to the forefront.
Mevlut Cavusoglu informed that Türkiye transports Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe via the South Caucasus Pipeline and TANAP and said, "We are ready to take joint steps on Turkmenistan's natural gas for the benefit of the three countries and we have also decided to establish a working group on this issue.”
The Turkish Foreign Minister added that the memorandum of understanding between the governments of Turkmenistan Azerbaijan and Türkiye on cooperation in the energy field that was signed following the summit creates the necessary framework for the establishment of the working group.
The first summit of the Heads of State of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Türkiye resulted in the signing of a number of documents on the further development of relations between the countries.
