Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan Discuss Delimitation of Caspian Sea Bottom

The meeting of the Joint Working Group between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan on the delimitation of the bottom of the Caspian Sea took place in Baku on September 12-13, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said in its Tuesday press release.

The delegation of Turkmenistan was led by the Director of the Caspian Sea Institute, Special Representative of Turkmenistan for the Caspian Sea Myrat Atajanov and the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan for Borders and Caspian Sea Khalaf Khalafov.

The meeting gathered representatives of relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

The sides considered provisions of the draft agreement between Turkmenistan and the Azerbaijan on delimitation of the Caspian Sea bottom between the two countries.

The parties agreed to continue the negotiation process on the issues of delimitation of the Caspian Sea bottom.
