Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan Consider Prospects For Expanding Trade-Economic Ties

Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, co-chair of the joint intergovernmental commission on cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in the economic and humanitarian spheres Mikayil Jabbarov and Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan Gurbanmammet Elyasov met on Monday to discuss prospects for expanding trade-economic cooperation.

Jabbarov congratulated the newly appointed Ambassador on the start of his diplomatic duties in Azerbaijan and wished him success. According to him, Azerbaijani-Turkmen relations are constantly developing, a solid legal framework for expansion of cooperation is being established and trade-economic ties are getting stronger, the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan said in its press release.

The meeting featured briefings on prospects of cooperation between the two countries. The sides stated the possibilities of development of relations in the energy, investment, transport, trade, communication and other spheres.

The Turkmen envoy expressed satisfaction with the start of diplomatic activity in Azerbaijan and stressed that he would make efforts to further strengthen the partnership.

The parties also exchanged views on holding the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission and other issues of mutual interest in the economic sphere.
