Rovshen Muhadov has been appointed as the Turkmenistan's new coach, the Football Federation of Turkmenistan (TFF) announced today. This decision was made on March 12 by the Executive Committee of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan. Muhadov previously headed the national team and participated with it in the qualifying round of the 2000 Asian Cup.
Muhadov will prepare the Turkmenistan national football team for the qualifying matches for the 2022 FIFA World Cup against the national teams of the Republic of Korea, Lebanon and the DPRK. Group H matches with the participation of the Turkmenistan national football team will be held in the Republic of Korea from May 31 to June 15, 2021.
Rovshen Abdurahmanovich Muhadov was born on July 23, 1961 in Ashgabat.During the years of his playing career, he played as a striker in the Turkmen clubs FC Kopetdag, FC Nisa, FC Pakhtakor (Uzbekistan), FC Pamir (Tajikistan), Gençlerbirliği, Yimpaş Yozgatspor, Nevşehirspor (Turkey) and FC Yelimay (Kazakhstan).
He has experience of playing for the Turkmenistan national football team (12 matches and 3 goals).He is the champion of Turkmenistan in the FC Kopetdag (1992, 1998) and FC Nisa (1999), the champion of Kazakhstan in the FC Yelimay (1994).
The 59-year-old Turkmen specialist as a coach was headed the Turkmen teams FC Nisa and FC Ahal. In 2000, he headed the national team of Turkmenistan, which he led for about a year.
In 2003-2007, he was the head coach of the Turkmenistan national U-23 football team. At the same time, he led the Turkmenistan national youth football team.
In September 2011 he received a PRO coaching license from the Asian Football Confederation.
In 2012, together with the Turkmenistan national youth football team, he won the Cup of the President of Turkmenistan. In 2013, he prepared the Turkmenistan national youth football team team for the 2013 CIS Cup.
At the 2019 Asian Cup in the UAE, Muhadov was the assistant to the head coach of the Turkmenistan's team Yazguly Hojageldiyev.
Muhadov's predecessor, Croatian football manager Ante Miše abandoned the post after the expiration of the one-year contract in March 2020.
