In 2024, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan plan to conduct visits at the highest and high levels. The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan Akmaljon Kuchkarov spoke about this at a briefing in Ashgabat, writes the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.
The diplomat emphasized that during the period from 2017 to 2023, the volume of bilateral trade between the countries increased more than 5 times and reached 1 billion 94 million USD. He also noted that in 2022, inter-parliamentary interaction intensified and joint youth and cultural events were held.
Plans for 2024 include a further increase in trade turnover, the creation of a border trade zone at the “Shavat-Dashoguz” checkpoint, holding Days of Culture of Uzbekistan in Turkmenistan and joint events in honor of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi.
It is also planned to hold exhibitions of products of national companies Made in Uzbekistan and Made in Turkmenistan in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to expand trade and economic ties.
Concluding the briefing, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan expressed confidence that active contacts at the highest level and joint projects will help deepen the strategic partnership of the two countries.
