Turkmenistan and the UN will expand cooperation in the field of sustainable development

At the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the work to strengthen interaction with the United Nations in the field of sustainable development, TDH reports.

Thus, from April 15 to 19, the UN headquarters in New York will host Sustainable Development Week. Turkmenistan, which has been at the forefront of promoting a sustainable transport system, will send a delegation to a high-level meeting on this topic.

On April 16, it is planned to hold a ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends of Sustainable Transport, created at the initiative of Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen side also proposed holding a side event at the UN dedicated to financing the SDGs in the field of transport and energy communications. In May-June, a video meeting on the implementation of initiatives in the energy sector will be held at the UN headquarters.

“After listening to the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the United Nations is one of the international structures with which Turkmenistan maintains close cooperation.In this context, the head of state instructed the Deputy Prime Minister and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue working on the further development of fruitful cooperation with the UN,” writes TDH.
