Turkmenistan and Switzerland Agree to Abolish Visas for Officials

Turkmenistan and Switzerland signed an agreement on Thursday in Ashgabat to mutually abolish visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported that the document was signed during a meeting between Turkmenistan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and Thomas Stähli, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to Turkmenistan (with residence in Baku), who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the celebrations for International Neutrality Day.

As a result of the negotiations, the parties also signed an agreement on the readmission of individuals present in Turkmenistan without permission.

The sides discussed further areas of cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
