Turkmenistan and Pakistan will continue negotiations to accelerate the construction of TAPI

Turkmenistan and Pakistan proposed to continue further negotiations aimed at increasing the pace of construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

This became known following a meeting between Turkmenistan’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hojamyrat Geldimyradov and Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani on the sidelines of a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government in Bishkek.

The interlocutors emphasized that the successful implementation of TAPI projects and power transmission lines and fiber-optic communications along the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan route will give a new impetus to the socio-economic development of the entire region.

The parties also discussed the need to use all tools to effectively use the existing potential in the trade and economic sphere and increase the volume of mutual trade.

The oil and gas industry, energy and others were identified as priority areas of cooperation. In this regard, the important role of the work of the Joint Turkmen-Pakistani Intergovernmental Commission was emphasized.
