Turkmenistan and Malaysia plan to elevate their bilateral relations by establishing a joint commission to deepen cooperation. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced this during a joint press conference with President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is in the country for a two-day official visit, as reported by Malaysian official media.
Anwar emphasized that the foreign ministers of both countries will begin implementing this initiative at the start of next year. “We both aim to enhance cooperation through the creation of the joint commission. The foreign ministers will start work on this project early next year,” the Prime Minister noted.
He also expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for supporting the activities of Malaysian company PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd, which operates in Central Asia.Anwar praised President Berdimuhamedov’s approach to development issues. “I am particularly impressed by the President's interest not only in developing trade and economic ties but also in a comprehensive approach to development, including cultural matters, as well as his commitment to international peace, which we fully support,” he added.
President Berdimuhamedov highlighted that the agreements reached will lay the groundwork for further cooperation in various fields. “We value the results of our visit to Malaysia. The signed agreements will strengthen our bilateral relations, especially in trade, economy, culture, and humanitarian interaction,” he stated.
The two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992, and today's initiatives confirm the leaders' commitment to strengthening their partnership. They expressed hope that the signed agreements in higher education and tourism, along with the creation of the joint commission, will elevate cooperation to a new level and contribute to sustainable development in both countries.
