Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan Helped Uzbekistan During Power Outage

Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan helped Uzbekistan to restore the supply of electricity in its regions during the power outage, the Krasnaya Vesna news agency reported citing the department head at the Uzbek Energy Ministry Abdumalik Nazirov as saying on Wednesday.

Nazirov specified that Turkmenistan helped to restore the energy supply to Bukhara and the Kashkadarya region of the republic, while Kyrgyzstan helped with the supply of power to the Andijan, Namangan and Fergana regions.

On Tuesday, a major accident occurred in the unified power system of Central Asia, which led to the shutdown of a number of hydroelectric power plants and thermal power plants in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The power outage also led to the suspension of work of several refineries in Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
