Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan intend to increase mutual trade turnover to 1 billion USD

Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan intend to bring the growth of mutual trade up to 1 billion USD in the foreseeable future. The advisory agreements were reached between the leaders of the two countries during Serdar Berdimuhamedov's first state visit to Astana in October last year.

As noted in the material published by the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper on Monday, today the main items of Turkmen exports to Kazakhstan are cotton processing products, textiles, ready-made knitwear, other garments, chemical fiber, and mineral fertilizers. Turkmen businessmen supply vegetables and detergents.

Wheat flour, furniture, technological and electronic equipment and other goods are imported from Kazakhstan.

In addition, cross-border cooperation is actively developing between the Balkan velayat of Turkmenistan and the Mangistau region of Kazakhstan.

As of March 2023, 53 investment projects with the participation of Kazakh companies have been registered in Turkmenistan. In Kazakhstan, in the Mangistau region, bordering with the Balkan velayat of Turkmenistan, there are 16 joint ventures in various sectors of the economy with the participation of Turkmen capital.

In August 2022, with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a ceremony was held to lay the foundation of a new automobile bridge across the Garabogaz Bay along the Turkmenbashy-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan border highway, which will become a continuation of the Ashgabat-Turkmenbashy highway.

The new bridge across the Garabogaz Bay will become an important engineering structure of the international transport route Turkmenistan-Kazakhstan.

In the development of bilateral relations, in July 2022, an Agreement on cooperation in the field of maritime transport was signed between CJSC Merchant Marine Fleet of Turkmenistan and Port Kuryk LLP.
