Turkmenistan and Italy Discuss Development of Bilateral Relations

A Turkmen delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held talks with Italy's Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, on Wednesday during their visit to Rome, Italy.

According to Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the top diplomats of both countries discussed the development of bilateral relations in political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. They also noted positive cooperation within international organizations, particularly the United Nations.

Following the meeting, a Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Italy for 2024-2025 was signed.

Rashid Meredov also met with Alvaro Lario, the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development. They discussed the current state of relations and prospects for cooperation in the agricultural sector between Turkmenistan and the organization.

On the same day, the Turkmen delegation met with the Deputy Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Maurizio Martina.

They discussed joint current and planned projects, highlighting Turkmenistan's interest in strengthening cooperation in food security in the context of climate change.
