Turkmenistan and Iran discussed strengthening gas cooperation

At the 28th Iranian International Exhibition of Oil, Gas, Oil Refining and Petrochemicals (Iran Oil Show 2024), Chairman of the “Turkmengaz” State Concern Murad Archayev emphasized the importance of deepening partnership with Iran in the gas industry. The parties discussed the prospects for expanding technical cooperation and participation in gas swaps, reports IIC.

At a meeting with the Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Majid Chegeni, Archayev noted the role of Iran as an influential player in the global gas market.

Chegeni, in turn, expressed interest in increasing cooperation with Turkmenistan through the exchange of energy resources and attracting Iranian companies to implement projects in the Turkmen fuel and energy complex.

The NIGC representative emphasized the mutual benefits of the Turkmen-Iranian gas partnership and Iran’s willingness to provide technical services, as well as share competencies in various segments of the gas industry.

In addition, Chegeni announced that a ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum will be held in Iran this year, and expressed support for Turkmenistan's potential membership in this forum.
