Turkmenistan and Iran are expanding cooperation in the field of maritime transport

Representatives of Turkmenistan took part in the “Iranian Maritime Economy” forum in Tehran. The Turkmendenizderyayollary agency was invited to the event by the Iranian side to discuss the development of international trade and transport links in the region, the agency’s official website reports.

During the forum, promising cargo transportation routes were highlighted using the transport potential of Turkmenistan and Iran. The Turkmen side presented the capabilities of the national merchant fleet and shipyards for the construction of ships.

Separate negotiations were also held with the chief adviser of the Iranian company Behineh Tarabar Azhour on the establishment of container transportation across the Caspian Sea and cargo transportation along the Amirabad-Baku route. A mutual desire was expressed to expand cooperation.

On February 14, the Turkmen delegation will visit the port of Amirabad to continue negotiations.
