Turkmenistan And EU Hold Annual Inter-Parliamentary Meeting in Brussels

Turkmenistan and European Union representatives gathered for their seventh annual inter-parliamentary meeting on Thursday at the European Parliament.

According to official media of Turkmenistan, Yusupguly Eshayev, chairman of the Mejlis Committee on Human Rights, led the Turkmen side, while Juzhi Princhi, head of the EU delegation for Central Asia and Mongolia, represented the European Parliament.

During the meeting, the Turkmen side reaffirmed its commitment to dialogue and cooperation on human rights, highlighting progress in addressing statelessness.

Participants also discussed expanding trade, economic, and investment relations, as well as partnerships in transportation and infrastructure.

The meeting emphasized Central Asia's strategic significance as a bridge between Europe and Asia. Delegates stressed the need for academic exchanges and regional collaboration, including Turkmenistan's proposal to host a meeting of education ministers from Central Asia and the EU.

The discussions concluded with an agreement to hold the eighth inter-parliamentary meeting in Turkmenistan.
