Turkmenistan and Damen Shipyards Discuss Joint Production of Dredgers

The Dutch shipbuilding company Damen Shipyards and JSC Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant Balkan held talks on cooperation in the production of river dredgers, nCa reports. The meeting took place on November 19 during the visit of the delegation headed by Kommer Damen to the enterprise in the city of Turkmenbashy.

Representatives of the Agency for Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan Turkmen Denizderyollary also took part in the talks. The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of shipbuilding, paying special attention to the production of dredging equipment.

As part of the visit, the Dutch delegation inspected the production facilities of the Balkan plant and got acquainted with the construction process of two new dry cargo ships. According to the company, Damen dredgers are actively used in Turkmenistan for dredging, construction of port infrastructure and extraction of non-metallic materials.
