Turkmenistan and Dagestan Launch Regular Ferry Service

Turkmenistan and Dagestan are planning to launch a regular ferry service by the end of this year, TASS news agency reported, citing the statement of the Russian trade representative to Turkmenistan Alexander Yelizarov after the meeting with the Chairman of the Dagestan Government Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov held on Thursday in Makhachkala.

Alexander Yelizarov noted that the first regular container cargo ship will be launched between the city of Turkmenbashi and Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan.

The Russian trade representative added that Dagestan and Turkmenistan aim to develop cooperation in four key directions - transportation, agriculture, industry of construction materials and cultural exchange.

The Makhachkala Commercial Seaport is Russia's only ice-free and deep-water port in the Caspian Sea.
