On July 10-13, the members of the Turkmen delegation, including the head of the department for project design work and introduction of new technologies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Industry of Turkmenistan, Akmurad Iylkybaev and Director of “Kuwwatly ýollar” Individual Enterprise Shihmurad Ovesov had meetings in Beijing to discuss the aspects of cooperation in the agrarian sphere.
The business trip was organized with the assistance of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the People’s Republic of China in the framework of the Turkmen leader’s instructions on attracting foreign investments into the agro-industrial complex of the country, increasing the export of agricultural products and enhancing partnership.
On the first day of the visit, the Turkmen delegation held meetings at the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC to exchange the views on the export of Turkmen cotton and cotton-derived products. The prospects of the investment exchange, as well as the increase of quotas for export of cotton products to the PRC were discussed.
During the talks, the head of the Department for Eurasia of the Ministry of Commerce of China underlined that China welcomed the export of agricultural products of Turkmenistan and would support the investment of Chinese companies in the agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan.
The delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan also held talks with the Chairman of the China International Chamber of Commerce for the Private Sector that supports domestic exporters and attracts foreign investment into the Chinese economy.
The bilateral talks were held with the heads of the largest companies in China “China textile Corporation Limited”, “China National Cotton Group Corporation” and the trade exchange “China National Cotton Exchange”.
The delegation of Turkmenistan acquainted the representatives of the Chinese business community with the production and export potential of the agrarian sector of the national economy, the investment projects in the sphere of agricultural production, as well as the country's logistical capabilities.
In turn, Chinese companies expressed their aspiration to actively participate in the investment projects in the agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan. The meeting participants reached an agreement on the joint work to introduce high technologies into agricultural production.
