Turkmenistan and Astrakhan are strengthening ties in the humanitarian and economic spheres

During the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Relations of the Astrakhan Region of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Golovkov, with the Consul of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan, Gadam Ilamanov, promising projects of bilateral cooperation were discussed, including the opening of a direct flight on the route Ashgabat - Astrakhan - Kazan and the creation of a Turkmen logistics center in the Astrakhan port special economic zone.

According to nCa, the meeting discussed current issues of trade, economic and humanitarian interaction between the region and Turkmenistan. Particular attention was paid to preparations for the Business Forum “Astrakhan Region

Turkmenistan: New Horizons of Trade and Economic Cooperation” in 2025.

According to Vladimir Golovkov, the recent visit of the Astrakhan delegation to Ashgabat led by Vice-Governor Denis Afanasyev demonstrated the interest of the Turkmen side in developing partnerships with the region.

In the humanitarian sphere, cooperation between educational institutions was discussed, as well as summing up the events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a long-term interaction plan, including the participation of Turkmen delegations in international events in the Astrakhan region in 2025.
