Turkmenistan and Afghanistan strengthen cooperation in the implementation of large infrastructure projects

The delegation of Turkmenistan led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov made a working visit to Afghanistan, where they discussed with Afghan colleagues, including Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mottaki, the progress of implementation of joint energy, transport and infrastructure projects, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.

During the visit, the delegation got acquainted with the progress of construction of the Serhetabat-Herat section, which is part of the transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI).

Work on the laying of a fiber-optic communication line “Arkadagyň ak ýoly” and the construction of a warehouse complex in the dry port of the Turgundi railway station were also inspected.

These projects, which were launched on September 11 with the participation of the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, are aimed at strengthening economic ties and developing infrastructure in the region.
