Turkmenistan and Afghanistan Extend Contract on Turkmen Electricity Supplies

Turkmenenergo, the state electricity corporation of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, and the state energy company of Afghanistan Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) on Monday in Ashgabat concluded an agreement to extend the supply of Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan for 2023.

The agreement was signed by DABS Director General Alhaj Muhammad Hanif Hamza and the Turkmenenergo Chairman, the DABS company reported on Monday.

Acting Afghan Minister of Energy and Water Resources Mullah Abdul Latif Mansur also participated at the signing of the agreement.

The agreement also sets the volume and price of electricity sent from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.

In addition to Turkmenistan, Afghanistan imports electricity from Iran, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
