Turkmenistan Aims to Extract Iron Oxide From Chagyl field

The possibility of extracting iron oxide was discovered in the Chagyl field in Turkmenbashi district of Turkmenistan’s Balkan province.Charymyrat Purchekov, the Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government in charge of the construction, industrial and energy issues, briefed on the steps taken in this direction to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during the online cabinet meeting on Friday, according to the country’s official media.

During the meeting, the Vice-Premier Purchekov briefed on the activities of subordinate structures.

Turkmenistan plans to hold an international tender to choose a consulting company to determine iron ore reserves at Chagyl field and carry out the technical-economic feasibility study of the project.

Following the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated the need for careful study of relevant issues and the further development of local raw materials used in the production of import-substituting products. Stressing the importance of activities in this direction, the Head of State instructed the Vice-Premier to continue the relevant work.

The government meeting discussed priority issues of state affairs and considered drafts documents.
