Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, in a working breakfast with the heads of leading Japanese companies last Tuesday discussed the construction of new plants in Turkmenistan for the production of petroleum, fertilizer products.
The event was held within the framework of the visit of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Japan from September 25 to October 1.
The meeting gathered the heads of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Sanko Selko Co. Ltd, Komatsu Ltd, Itochu Corp., Mitsubishi Corp., Sumitomo Corp., Marubeni, Sojits Corp., JGC, as well as the Co-Chairman of Turkmen-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation, Chairman of Board of Rönesans Holding and Çalık Holding, the official Turkmen media reported on Sunday.
According to Berdimuhamedov, in the last 4 years alone large industrial facilities such as the gas chemical complex for production of ammonia and urea in Garabogaz, polymer plant in Kiyanli, gas-to-gasoline in Ovadandepe and the gas turbine power plant in Charjev district of Lebap province have been put into operation with participation of Japanese companies.
During the exchange of views on prospects and ways of intensifying the partnership, activation of investment activities, the sides considered the construction of the second phase of production and industrial facilities in Turkmenistan.
In this context, it is planned to build a plant in Garabogaz to produce 600 thousand tons of ammonia and 1.15 million thousand tons of urea fertilizers and a plant in Ovadandepe to produce 600 thousand tons of gasoline.
There are also plans to build a plant in Turkmenabat to produce 300 thousand tons of phosphate fertilizers.Moreover, Turkmen and Japanese businesses intend to build a plant to produce 640 thousand tons of urea and 400 thousand tons of ammonia in Turkmenistan.
The plans of joint work and agreements on these issues will be considered at the 14th meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese Economic Cooperation Committee.
The heads of major Japanese companies expressed gratitude to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for his time and full support of the initiatives he put forward, as well as readiness to cooperate in relevant areas.
As a whole, there are 38 investment projects with Japanese companies totaling more than $11 billion, about 230 million euros and nearly 17 billion yen in Turkmenistan.
