Turkmen weightlifters won 13 medals at the Central Asian Youth Open Championships

Turkmen athletes won 13 medals at the recently concluded Central Asian Open Weightlifting Championship among athletes under 17 years of age. The competition, held in the Uzbek city of Chirchik, brought together 44 participants from six countries in the region: Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

According to the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”, the Turkmenistan national team won 11 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Particularly distinguished were Atabek Azamatov (up to 49 kg), Kakamyrat Annamyradov (up to 67 kg) and Orazgul Babaniyazova (up to 55 kg), who won three silver medals each in the snatch, clean and jerk and combined events.

Gurbangozel Orazova (over 71 kg) added two silver and one bronze medals to the team’s collection.

Saparbay Atajanov, who competed in the over 81 kg category, also did not go without a reward, taking bronze in the snatch.
