Turkmen weightlifter won bronze in clean and jerk at the World Championships in Riyadh

Turkmen weightlifter Gaygysyz Torayev won the bronze medal in the clean and jerk at the 88th World Championships in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

The representative of Turkmenistan achieved this success in the weight category up to 81 kg, in which 29 athletes competed for awards.

In the snatch, Gaygysyz showed the seventh result (150 kg), and the third in the clean and jerk (193 kg).As a result, in the combined event the Turkmenistan took 6th place (343 kg), 9 kg behind the bronze medalist Muhammadkodir Toshtemirov (Uzbekistan) - 352 kg - (164 + 188).

Silver went to Erwin Abdullah (Indonesia) - 354 kg (145 + 209).Oscar Reyes (Italy) won gold 356 kg (163 + 193).

It is worth noting that at the current world championship, Gaygysyz Torayev set a personal record in the double event (343 kg), improving by 24 kg the previous achievement set at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Havana, where in June 2023 the Turkmen athlete won a silver medal.
