Turkmen volleyball players won silver at the CAVA Nations League in Pakistan

The Turkmenistan national volleyball team won silver medals at the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Nations League tournament held in Islamabad, Pakistan. In the final, the team of head coach Serdar Tachnazarov lost to the hosts of the competition, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.

In the group stage, Turkmen volleyball players won victories over the teams of Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, taking second place after the Iranian team. In the decisive match for the main trophy, athletes from Turkmenistan met with opponents from Pakistan, who went through the group stage without defeat.

Despite the defeat in the final with a score of 1:3, the performance of the national team can be considered successful. In addition to the silver medals, forward Didar Nuryev was awarded the individual award “Best Scorer of the Tournament”.

It is worth noting that a year ago, at similar competitions in Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyzstan), Turkmen volleyball players took only fifth place. Thus, the current result demonstrates the team’s significant progress.

The bronze medal was won by the Kyrgyz team, which beat the Sri Lankan team in the match for third place. The CAVA Nations League is of great importance as it will be integrated into the world volleyball ranking system from 2025.
