Turkmen swimmer makes debut at Paris Olympics

Turkmen swimmer Musa Zhalayev made his debut at the Olympic Games in Paris, competing in the 100m freestyle. The 21 years old athlete showed a time of 52.29 seconds in the qualifying swim, which allowed him to take 61st place among all participants, ahead of 18 rivals.

Zhalayev competed in the third qualifying heat, where he finished fourth. However, this result was not enough to advance to the semifinals, where the 16 best swimmers were selected based on the results of all heats. The winner of the qualification was American Alexi Jack with a result of 47.57 seconds.

It is worth noting that Musa Zhalayev is a student at the International University of Oil and Gas and a record holder of Turkmenistan in several disciplines. His best result in the 100-meter freestyle is 51.63 seconds, set in 2023.
