Turkmen Statistics Committee, UNESCAP Discuss Assessment of Paid Services’ Volume

The specialists of the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan held an online meeting on Tuesday with representatives of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) to discuss the possibilities of providing consulting support in assessing the volume of paid services provided to the population by small and medium-sized enterprises.

The UNESCAP was represented by Regional Adviser on official statistics Ian Smith and Pinar Ucar, who is responsible for work on economic statistics and related SDGs at the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) reported on its website.

Specialists of Turkmen State Statistics Committee and UNESCAP exchanged views on improving the methodology for conducting a sample survey of paid services in accordance with international standards and best practices.

The meeting facilitated the implementation of tasks that are defined for the country's statistical system for 2022 in the Presidential Program of socio-economic development of Turkmenistan for 2019-2025, according to the report.

Small and medium businesses of Turkmenistan are an important part of its economy and social sphere, and one of the key components in the implementation of programs for the country's development, creation of new jobs, and the formation of a competitive environment.
