Turkmen schoolchildren won more than 800 medals at international olympiads

In the first ten months of 2024, schoolchildren in Turkmenistan achieved impressive results at international educational Olympiads, winning a total of 813 medals of various denominations. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan B. Orazdurdyeva at a government meeting, TDH reports.

Successes in the educational sphere are associated with large-scale modernization of the education system in the country. In particular, during the reporting period, the country approved the “Concept for improving teaching methods in general education programs in Turkmenistan until 2028”, advanced teaching methods are being introduced and digital education is developing.

Turkmen athletes also achieved significant success, winning 538 medals at 161 international competitions, including 174 gold, 150 silver and 214 bronze awards.

During the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to continue comprehensive work on the development of science, education and sports, paying special attention to the preparation of national teams for the upcoming Olympic Games, World and Asian Championships.

It is also noted that the country is actively working to modernize the scientific system. This year, the “Strategy for the Development of Science in Turkmenistan for 20242052” was approved and a number of international scientific events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi were organized.
