Turkmen sambo wrestlers won two bronze medals at the World Championships in Astana

Zarina Abdyrahmanova (weight category up to 54 kg) and Gulzada Jorakuliyeva (up to 72 kg) brought bronze medals to the Turkmenistan national team on the first day of the World Sambo Championships, which is taking place in Astana, the Turkmenistan International Information Center reports.

This year, the world championship attracted a record number of participants about 470 athletes from 80 countries. The tournament became historic due to the inclusion of two new disciplines: women's combat sambo and sambo for athletes with visual impairments.

The significance of the event was underscored by the presence of legendary sambo wrestler Fedor Emelianenko at the opening ceremony. The competitions are held in various weight categories among men and women, as well as in the combat sambo discipline.

All fights are broadcast live on the specialized video portal Sambo.Live, which makes the tournament accessible to viewers around the world.
