Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov by his order has severely reprimanded Serdar Cholukov, chairman of the State Committee for Tourism, and issued him a final warning to correct the shortcomings in the tourism sphere as soon as possible.

The order was signed due to Cholukov’s improper performance of official duties and his failure to ensure the fulfillment of appointed tasks.

In March 2017, Berdimuhamedov expressed dissatisfaction with the results of work of the State Committee for Tourism during a government meeting.

Berdimuhamedov said that tourism is one of profitable spheres in the world. Meanwhile, it should be noted that the tourism industry takes a special place in Turkmenistan’s strategic plans.

The Great Silk Road passed through Turkmenistan. The country has a rich culture, diverse natural landscapes, unique archaeological monuments, including those in the UNESCO World Heritage list.
