President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov received the newly appointed Ambassador of Romania to Turkmenistan Ion Naval on Thursday.
Presenting his credentials, the diplomat conveyed greetings from President of Romania Klaus Werner Iohannis to the Head of Turkmenistan, the country’s official media reports.
The Romanian envoy assured that he would make every effort to strengthen the good relations that meet the interests of the two countries and their peoples.
During the meeting, the sides stressed the importance of mutual support for important proposals and initiatives aimed at ensuring peace, security and global sustainable development.
The Head of Turkmenistan and the Romanian Ambassador stressed the need to further intensify the mutually beneficial trade and economic partnership in a wide range of areas, including in the strategic sectors energy, trade, agriculture, transport and communications, chemicals and light industry.
The meeting participants attached great importance to the Joint Turkmen-Rumanian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, which aims to strengthen trade relations, explore new forms and ways of interaction.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Romania were established in July 1992.
