President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting on Wednesday dedicated to the results of his visit to the country’s eastern velayat of Lebap velayat.
The meeting discussed issues related to the further development of the country's fuel and energy complex, the introduction of modern scientific achievements and the development of international cooperation in this area.
The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Government Shahym Abdrakhmanov, overseeing the country's oil and gas industry, heads and specialists of the country’s fuel and energy complex, General Director of the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) branch in Turkmenistan Chen Huailong and the Khyakim (Governor) of Lebap velayat.
The Head of the Türkmengeologiýa (Turkmen Geology) State Corporation Merdan Roziyev briefed on the finding of new hydrocarbon reserves following the geophysical studies in the areas adjacent to the Malay and Nayip fields, and on plans to drill exploratory wells at the sites.
The Chairman of the Türkmengaz (Turkmen Gas) State Concern Batyr Amanov briefed on the activities carried out to bring the Bagaja natural gas processing plant of the Concern to full capacity.
He added that these works are expected to result in the increase of production of gas condensate and liquefied gas, as well as produce additional 2 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
In his report, the Vice-Premier Abdrakhmanov briefed on the activities to produce additional volumes of natural gas in Mary and Lebap velayats in the coming years.
Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said the development of the oil and gas industry, including by increasing the production of fossil natural raw materials, the range and quantity of products produced by oil and gas processing, is an important task, and gave a number of specific instructions to this end.
In 2021, around 34 billion cubic meters of Turkmen natural gas was delivered to China.
