President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting on Wednesday focusing on the results of the economic, financial and banking complex of the country in 2020 and identifying the complex’s specific tasks for the current year, TDH news agency reports.
During the meeting, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers in charge of the economic complex, heads of a number of ministries and departments, and banking sector, rectors of specialized universities reported on the results of work in last year.
Addressing the Minister of Finance and Economy Muhammetgeldi Serdarov, Turkmen President instructed to carry out necessary measures to improve the mechanisms of privatization of state property, to systematically analyze the financial and economic condition of all sectors of the national economy, as well as the efficiency of their production capacities.
The Head of State also told to accelerate the activities to ensure the full functioning of the electronic tax system using digital technologies.
Turkmen President emphasized that in order to gradually transition to a market economy, necessary measures should be carried out to organize the work of the Ashgabat Stock Exchange Closed Joint-Stock Company based on international experience.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed dissatisfaction with the activities of the Türkmenstandartlary (Turkmen Standarts) Main State Service, noting that the quality and safety control of products and goods, performed work and rendered services should comply with generally accepted standards in world practice.
Adressing the Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Muhammetseyit Sylapov, the Head of State instructed to fully use the opportunities of the employment page on the official website of the Ministry and ensure the availability of information on vacancies in organizations and enterprises for the population.
Addressing the Chairman of the Central Bank Merdan Annadurdiyev and the heads of commercial banks, Turkmen President instructed to regulate the turnover of cash in the country in 2021 and to ensure that the volume of non-cash payments exceeds 40%.
In this regard, the Head of State continued, relevant measures should be carried out regularly to strengthen the exchange rate of the national currency, to regulate and strictly monitor transactions involving foreign exchange.
The Central Bank and other banks should be guided by this requirement when making payments and settlements on import transactions, exchanging clients' manat funds for foreign currency at the official rate, and, if necessary, prepare a draft of a special normative act in this area, Turkmen Leader stressed.
During the meeting, President of Turkmenistan reprimanded heads of a number of ministries and departments of the complex for shortcomings in their work.
