Turkmen Natural Gas Production Management’s Output Tops 10 bcm

Lebapgazçykaryş Management of Turkmengas State Concern has produced more than 10.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas since the beginning of 2021. Compared to the same period last year, the growth rate reached 145%.

The Management fulfilled the annual plan of natural gas production ahead of schedule. This is the result of an increase in the productivity of existing wells and the workover of obsolete wells, the official media of Turkmenistan reported on Thursday.

During the first five months of this year, the engineers of Lebapgazçykaryş also repaired 17 idle wells during the period, providing additional production of natural gas. Similar work is also underway at Malay, Kerpichli and Kukurtli fields.

In January, a new gas compressor station was put into operation at the Malay field in the Charjev etrap of Lebap velayat. The Malay field has been producing natural gas since 1986.

Besides supplying the local market, the field also delivers gas for the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China transnational gas pipeline via the the Malay-Bagtyyarlyk link with a length of 188 kilometers.

The Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline with an annual capacity of 55 bcm exports 40 billion cubic meters of gas per year. China has purchased over 300 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan since the launch of the pipeline in 2009 and is presently the major importer of Turkmen natural gas.
