Turkmen National Oil Company Announces New Oil and Gas Projects

Chairman of Turkmennebit (Turkmen Oil) State Corporation Guvanch Agajanov, speaking at the International Conference "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2023" on Thursday, presented new projects in the oil and gas industry concerning Turkmenbashy complex of oil refineries and Seyda complex of oil refineries.

Future projects at Turkmenbashi Refinery include an extensive renovation of the millisecond catalytic cracking reactor regenerator unit with upgraded internal devices and linings, as well as the creating of a convection-type reforming unit for hydrogen production.

The Seydi Refinery plans to establish an atmospheric distillation unit, incorporating an electric desalting unit, with a projected capacity of 1 million tons annually.Furthermore, there are plans to construct a unit to produce nitrogen, oxygen, and argon at the refinery.

In addition, Guwanch Agajanov stated that they are actively considering the possibility of exporting hydrogen and nitrogen.

Moreover, the construction of two gas turbines and a delayed coking and deasphalting unit for tar sands is in the final stage.

The State Concern Chairman also added that the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea has more than 18 billion tons of oil equivalent. This sector, divided into licence blocks, is crucial and open to foreign investment.

Significant investments in the modernisation of refineries have made it possible to apply the latest technologies, improve the quality of products and achieve the depth of oil refining that complies with the best world standards, Agajanov said.

Guvanch Agajanov also informed the inauguration of the Research Institute Turkmennebit (Turkmen Oil) building after significant repairs.

Turkmennebit's production enterprises produce a wide range of products, including high-octane petrol, aviation and technical paraffin, jet and diesel fuel, mazut, lubricating oils, polypropylene, heating oil, light gasoil, petroleum coke, liquefied coke, construction and road bitumen, which constitute Turkmenistan's export potential.
